Farmers Market

Each Wednesday afternoon beginning the third week in June and ending the third week in October, come join the fun at the Andersonville Farmer’s Market!

This lively Chicago Neighborhood market is located on Berwyn Avenue, between Ashland and Clark on Chicago’s north side. Grassroots Farm is proud to have been selected as a vendor beginning with the very first year of this market. Over the years customers have come to recognize our signature overflowing baskets and wooden bins of high quality, seasonal produce and fresh herbs under the white canopies. We particularly enjoy seeing the same customers each season as well as meeting new friends and neighbors. We’ll watch for your face, too.

At the market we trade recipe ideas, hold discussions about food issues, share stories about how our families use our farm-fresh produce in everyday dishes as well as for special occasions, and provide instruction on storing produce, preserving the harvest, and nutritional preparation.

Here is a list of some of the Certified Organic produce we will be offering for sale this upcoming 2012 market season:

  • kale, collards, and rainbow swiss chard
  • beets, carrots, and radishes
  • tomatoes, bell and hot peppers
  • cucumbers and melons
  • lettuce heads, salad mix, and spinach
  • storage onions, scallions, and garlic
  • chives, basil, parsley, and cilantro
  • brussels sprouts, popcorn and more!

Also in 2012 look for our fresh cut flower bouquets, grown without harmful chemicals here at Grassroots Farm and custom arranged by Mary N. of Monroe, WI.

Looking for an opportunity to get involved?

We are looking for “worker-share” market help for this 2012 season. This opportunity would be a trade agreement of one CSA share box/week for 3-4 hours of Farmers’ Market help in the Andersonville Neighborhood of Chicago Wednesday evenings Summer through mid-October. If you think you’d enjoy the fast paced setting of working a Farmer’s Market stand, have a passion for preparing fresh, delicious vegetables, and are available for a several week commitment, send us an email!
